Project Case – Basalt Fiber Geogrid

Basalt fiber geogrid mesh is made of continuous basalt fiber through biaxial mesh weaving technology, which is a reinforcement textile with various mesh window sizes.

According to different application, the basalt fiber geogrid can coat different sizing for concrete and asphalt reinforcement. Due to basalt geogrid is from basalt fiber, so it has all advantages of basalt fiber, like:

  • High tensile strength

  • High resist acid, alkali, and other chemical corrosion
  • Rust resistance

  • Non-conductive

  • Does not pollute the soil, the sea and the environment
  • Diamagnetic
  • High/low temperature resistance

So, the basalt geogrid replace steel mesh, glass fiber mesh and even carbon fiber mesh now and widely used in asphalt reinforcement, concrete reinforcement, road reinforcement, building repair, pavements, and prefabricate products reinforcement. In the applications, basalt geogrid shows its good performance, like:

  • Reduce the weight of the products, compare with steel mesh, it is also 2.6 times lighter than steel, thereby simplifying transportation and handing
  • Greatly reduce the crack of the products
  • -260 – 700 degree temperature resistance, keep the products good performance even under the extreme climate
  • With almost same expansion rate as concrete, so it does not separate from concrete

Project Case:

We provide 38x38mm basalt geogrid mesh to one of our customers that used for wall reinforcements. In order to test its performance, we did an experiment on two different walls. One wall used the basalt geogrid, while another wall did not use it. The test result is as following pictures:

It can be seen from the experiment that the basalt geogrid mesh can solve the problem of concrete crack.
